Let's Transfer!

Bringing the business community to schools

Transfer is about transferring knowledge between the business community and schools. This is how it works: Professionals from business, industry and enterprises sign up at the Transfer web site to become lecturers. Transfer contacts its network of schools to organize for the speakers to teach in classes about subjects such as "How to start a company", "What is marketing about?" or "This is how the Internet works". All speakers do this voluntarily and alongside their regular jobs.

Transfer provides the platform for organizing the knowledge transfers and connecting the members with schools. As a non-profit organization, Transfer is dependant upon finance from a large number of sponsors.

Founded in 2000
The project was founded in 2000 by Fredrik Arnander, an IT-entrepreneur. Transfer is based on the belief that we live in a knowledge society where prosperity depends on intellectual capital and new ideas and the society's ability to turn those ideas into economic growth.

Transfer now has more than 3000 lecturing members in four regions; Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö and Örebro. Some 400 cooperating schools have joined the network and the demand is increasing. Since the start, schools have ordered more than 12000 lectures from Transfer.

Transfer's short-term objectives
Transfer aims to facilitate for young students who are about to leave school to integrate in working life, to develop their individual possibilities in the knowledge society and to force existing barriers. The lecturer will act as a model and give the students insight, inspiration and contact with "real business".

Transfer's long-term goal
The long-term overall goal for Transfer is to develop a generally accepted model to practically bridge the divide between industry and schools. The Transfer website serves as a knowledge platform. Members appreciate the opportunity to contribute to society, sharing knowledge and meeting young students. For schools, this is a good way to interact with companies and the working life. For the many partners, Transfer is a way to engage in Corporate Citizenship which means good PR and a way to motivate employees.

Results and evaluation of Transfer
We measure the results with the following: Number of Members; Number of Sponsors and financing; Number of projects in schools; Number of transferred hours.
We also measure the qualitative results. Our general impression is that members, schools and sponsors are very happy with the project.
Members appreciate the opportunity to contribute to society, sharing knowledge and meeting young students. For schools this project is very welcome, as it is not only complementary to but also adjusted the ordinary schooling and as the resources are free.
For sponsors this is a way to engage in "Corporate Citizenship" which means good PR and a way to motivate employees.
